The month we delve into the GoldMine “Edit” menu to find the same old tricks and maybe something new…
Wow, has this been here the whole time? Seriously, I can now undo changes made to a Contact Record?
And finally we come to the dreaded “Delete Contact” menu item.
If you’re using a multiple monitor setup, this may interest you. You can actually switch the default GoldMine behavior from using Tabs to using Windows. Anyone who used GoldMine back in the day will recognize this. It’s actually quite easy.
If you are doing anything in GoldMine with the Process Monitor, it’s probably showing up in the lower left-hand corner as a “hidden” item which you need to float your mouse over to view. You can change this behavior and make it into a tab. It’s actually quite easy and like most useful things in GoldMine, kind of hidden.
One of the best things about Goldmine is the Recently Viewed Record list on the left-hand side of the main window. However, this will only list five items by default. You can, however, increase this to 99. Here’s how:
… are usually right under your nose. Did you know that you can display a row count in [almost] any window?
Just right-click within the list and Select “Summary”.
I don’t see nearly as many cleaned up Picklists in the field as I wouild like to. Of course, I mean the lookup window you get for each field by clicking the little grey arrow to the right of it.
You’d be surprised at how much these impact data integrity within GoldMine. Plus, once configured, it makes data entry EASY.
GoldMine, out of the box, comes with everything turned all the way on. Notably, the tabstrip that appears at the bottom of the contact record. One thing you can do to make GoldMine a little less cluttered is to hide any tabs you don’t use.
To mass e-mail to the filter we just created:
1. Select Actions | Begin E-mail Merge from the top-level menu.
2. Select the template you wish to send.
3. On the Recipient tab, select the Filter you wish to send to. Also (important), select Queue for Delivery. Then ok.
4. This will populate your GoldMine outbox with outgoing e-mails based on the filter you selected. To send, just select a range of emails and right-click | Send. It’s a good idea to only send a few hundred per day. any more than that and you run the risk of being blacklisted a spammer!
Try it, and have fun!
