Microsoft Flow: Flows Automatically Turn Off after 90 Days Without Use

By January 31, 2022No Comments

This tip is more of a cautionary tale to fellow Microsoft Flow (aka Power Automate) users. Do you have Flows that are important, but rarely used? Did you know that flows will turn off automatically if they haven’t been triggered in 90 days? Of course, you can pay specifically for a standalone Power Automate plan to avoid this, or you can keep reading for a cheaper workaround.

This has been the source of frustration numerous times for our clients, and there’s little information about it online. Unfortunately, there is no setting to fix this — The only workaround I’ve found is to create an automation to trigger the Flow in question, either with another Flow, Dynamics workflow, etc.

In the most recent case, I created another Flow that triggers on a set schedule (monthly) that creates the required Flow trigger for the original Flow that kept turning off.

For instructions on creating scheduled Flows like the monthly one above, check out this article from Microsoft.
