Dynamics 365: V9- Soon-to-be Deprecated Features

With the Dynamics 365 V9 update finally rolling out to most existing customers, Microsoft announced a list of features that will be deprecated in future releases of Version 9. If you’re on Version 8.2, this list does not apply!

  1. Service Scheduling using the Service activity
    1. You are encouraged to transition to Dynamics 365 for Field Service, which includes a robust Unified Resource Scheduling feature
  2. Dialogs
    1. Dialogs have been replaced with Mobile Task Flows for mobile and Business Process Flows–both of which can be created from the Processes entity (new–>BPF or Mobile Task Flow, instead of “workflow”)
  3. Project Service Finder App
    1. This applies to Dynamics 365 for Project Service Automation; the functionality is being replaced in a future release of D365 for PSA.
  4. Contracts, Contract Line Items, Contract Templates
    1. These entities are being deprecated in a future release of Version 9 and have been replaced with Entitlements in D365 for Customer Service
  5. Standard SLAs (Dynamics 365 for Customer Service)
    1. Standard-level agreements (when SLA Type = Standard) are being deprecated and replaced by Enhanced SLAs
  6. Relationship Roles
    1. Relationship Roles are replaced by Connection Roles
  7. Mail Merge
    1. Mail Merge from previous versions is deprecated, including mail-merge templates and the mail-merge Word add-in
  8. Announcements
    1. No replacement announced
  9. Some client APIs including many XRM APIs!
