Did you know that in the OneNote app, you can set the default paste formatting behavior? If you find yourself frequently changing the paste formatting after pasting, you might want to configure this setting! Dynamics 365: Show Dependencies to Make Deleting Fields and Workflows Easier

Any time you need to delete a field or workflow, you’ll want to check for dependencies and make the necessary changes to remove those dependencies. Check out this post from 2018 to learn how to “show dependencies” for a field or workflow. To show dependencies for a workflow, open the workflow and select “Show Dependencies” at the top of the window.

Dynamics 365: Enable Change Tracking to use an Entity as a Flow Trigger

If you are starting to use Flows, this is an important (and quick) tip!  If you use an automated flow with Dynamics and set the trigger to “when a record is created” or “when a record is updated”, you MUST first enable Change Tracking for the entity that will be triggering the Flow.  Without this, when you attempt to run or test the flow, it will fail.

Dynamics 365: Add a Wait Condition to Complex Workflows

Did you know that you can add a wait condition to a workflow? This can be particularly helpful if the workflow is complex. Sometimes the system can get ahead of itself and cause workflows to fail if too many actions are being performed too quickly. For example, if a record needs to be created, then populated to a lookup field (if you created a contact record then updated a lookup on the Opportunity with that new contact, all in a single workflow), you’ll want to use this tip!

Office 365: Insert a Printout of Another Document in OneNote

OneNote allows you to easily insert a PDF printout of another document onto a page, which you can then markup or reference as needed.  This is great for keeping notes during meetings or marking up documents for formatting changes.  Please note that these instructions were tested with OneNote, the Windows 10 App, not OneNote 2016.

Microsoft recently added a feature to Teams allowing you to post a single announcement or message to multiple channels.  This will be a great way to snag people’s attention (imagine using this + the announcement or ‘mark important’ features) and post important messages across a channel without needing to copy and paste the message multiple times. Office 365: Use Conditional Formatting to Automatically Assign Colors to Calendar Items in Outlook

I like my calendars to be color-coded.  It looks nice, and when you have a busy week it just helps make sense of your calendar at a glance. You can use conditional formatting in Outlook to automatically assign colors to calendar items using conditions that you create. This really takes the work out of color-coding your calendar!
